![]() Sometimes, the simplest games were the best. But the go-anywhere, do-anything stylings of the series shine through. Picking through a range of the microgames at random, the stances kept changing. Choo-Choo stance sees you holding each one out and miming turning the wheels of a train, while elsewhere there's a sword stance, a bent-knee stance and a bunch of others. It all comes down to stances, which are Nintendo's way of framing different ways of holding the Joy-cons. Move It! is one of those Wario games that ditches the immediacy of the single button input in favour of motion controls. I had a chance to play a few of the microgames at an event recently. But for the 10th game in the series, Move it!, Nintendo is taking things back to Smooth Moves, the Wii instalment from 2007. The first WarioWare is such a strange, singular game it feels like it hasn't aged at all. With any luck, this new game will just be the start of Princess Peach's expanded role in Mario's world.Somehow, it's been 20 years since the first WarioWare game, which means it's been 20 years since we all started catching toast, jumping over shark cars, and catching funny little bugs beneath glasses. These eclectic powers will be necessary to help Peach take down Grape and the Sour Bunch. Princess Peach Showtime! has shown off some impressive costume-based transformations for its signature character that include a swordfighter, pastry chef, and even a kung fu master. Princess Peach Showtime! uses a theatrical stage play aesthetic combined with a partner for Peach, Stella, who can transform into an interactive ribbon, reminiscent of Super Mario Odyssey's Cappy. There was speculation that Princess Peach Showtime! could be a new entry in the Super Princess Peach series, but it's heading for an even more exciting adventure. ![]() 2005's Super Princess Peach was a Nintendo DS bestseller and now Peach is finally receiving another starring vehicle for the Switch in 2024. Princess Peach is one of Super Mario's most beloved characters and, despite her growing presence in multiplayer titles, it's been some time since she's been able to headline her own game. Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, Pauline, and Peachette will also be along for the ride as new racers. Wave 6, which is planned for release right before 2023 is through, builds upon this with eight new tracks, including an updated version of a Mario Kart Wii favorite. Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Bowser's court magician Kamek finally joined Mario Kart's chaos. Wave 5 released this summer, which exposed racers to new courses and costumes, but also three new characters. ![]() Nintendo has announced at least two more DLC sets for 2023, Wave 5 and Wave 6. Nintendo has appeased Mario Kart fans through steady DLC expansions, which have substantially increased and improved the amount of content for the base game. ![]() Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hit the Switch in 2017, and fans have reached a point where they're not expecting a Mario Kart 9 until Nintendo's Switch successor. Mario Kart remains one of Nintendo's most popular franchises and Mario Kart 8 has been a top title for so long that it's easy to forget the game was initially released back in 2014 for the Wii U. ![]()
